From August 2001 to January 2003, Youth Incentives assisted the World Population Foundation in the development of a rights-based sexuality education curriculum. The focus was on children who have committed offences and attend re-education schools in Vietnam. This project was conducted in collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Security and the Ministry of Education. The curriculum is based on a needs assessment among schools and students. Following the training of teachers and the testing of the curriculum, a teachers' manual was published at the end of 2003 and a student book was published in 2004. The project is now being broadly implemented in more re-education schools and centres for street children in Vietnam. It is accompanied by a train-the-trainers programme.
