The RAP-Song in the Philippines, February 5 - 10, 2007
In 2007 Youth Incentives, together with partners in six countries, undertakes the RAP-song project: young people from all over the world are making a RAP-song of issues concerning their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. The first RAP-song has been realised in the Philippines in February 2007.
After a 3-day workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and the RAP-rule, the participants worked together to write lyrics and make music for the RAP-Song single, come up with dance moves for a video clip and did some filming of the process both at the venue in Pranjetto Hills, Razil, and in the Community.
The result is a wonderful rhythmic single in which the young people sing and rap about their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and demand that there is attention from key figures in society for these issues. The Song, film material and video clip shall be set in as an awareness raising instrument in the Philippines and later on internationally.
The Philippines' edition is a great success, now we await the next wonderful and powerful singles from Bangladesh, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda and The Netherlands. Let the RAP rule!
