Third Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health, Malaysia, November 17-21, 2005
More then 1200 participants from over 57 countries participated in this Conference hosted by the National and regional Family Planning Association. The theme of the Conference was to ‘Expanded and Comprehensive Response in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for All Communities’. The main objectives were to take stock of the sexual and reproductive health status of the region, to share best practices in sexual and reproductive health and to facilitate networking and collaboration of partners in sexual and reproductive health in achieving sexual and reproductive health for all by 2015.
The conference was set up with four plenary sessions, six symposia, satellite sessions, parallel sessions with oral abstracts, skills building and empowerment workshop, posters, dialogue with the donors, policy dialogue and field visits. Out of the many sessions it was always a challenge to find the right track and session. The four main tracks were: Sexuality; Sexual and Reproductive Rights, Marginalised Communities and Provision of Sexual Reproductieve Health Services .The Conference concluded with a general declaration and one specific from young people of whom a remarkably number was attending.
