RAP-rule
The guiding principle for the work of Youth Incentives is the so-called 'RAP-rule' :
- Rights-based approach
- Acceptance of young people’s sexuality
- Participation of young people
The RAP-rule is a pragmatic approach that is meaningful within a diversity of contexts, national circumstances, religions and cultures.
Youth Incentives believes that interventions are most effective when there is a broad comprehensive and interactive approach based upon the needs of young people. Young people should be involved in developing programmes and projects targeting them.
RAP-tool
To ensure the quality of sexuality education Youth Incentives has developed the RAP-tool. The RAP-tool is derived from the RAP-rule and is an instrument to certify that:
-
sexuality education is based on sexual and reproductive rights
-
messages of acceptance of young people’s sexuality are included
-
material and sexuality education programmes are developed in participation with young people
These aspects are prerequisites for the good quality of sexuality education.
